A non-activated card is delivered to your address and can be used after its activation, as described in the accompanying letter. The activation differs depending on the card type and the reason for issuing the new card. Therefore, it can be activated in different ways:
online banking (e-zaba and m-zaba)
by using the automated answering service
in a branch of Zagrebačka banka.
If you activate your card before 11 a.m., it will be ready for use after 11:30 a.m. If you activate your card between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., you will be able to use it after 6:30 p.m.
IMPORTANT: To activate the contactless function, first you have to make at least one conventional transaction by inserting the card into an ATM (it is sufficient to check the account balance) or in a POS device at a point of sale.

What is the maximum amount for contactless payments which do not require entering a PIN?
Contactless transactions may be realised with or without a PIN. A transaction up to HRK 250 is completed by leaning of the card against the terminal, while higher amounts require the entry of the PIN. The HRK 250 limit related to the entry of the PIN is currently valid for the Croatian market.
Until 27 March 2020, the limit for contactless payment in the Croatian market was HRK 100. In the interim period it is possible that some POS devices may require PIN authorisation for purchases above HRK 100.
Limits for purchases on foreign markets may be higher/lower than in Croatia. For cash withdrawals you will need PIN authorisation regardless of the amount.
My contactless debit card is not functioning.
To activate the contactless function, first you have to make at least one conventional transaction by inserting the card into an ATM (it is sufficient to check the account balance) or in a POS device at a point of sale. If the card still doesn't work, contact the nearest Bank branch. Conventional transactions - transactions in which data between the card and the POS terminal is exchanged by reading the chip or magnetic stripe on a contact interface - the card should be inserted in a POS device or an ATM.
IMPORTANT: If you activate your card before 11 a.m., it will be ready for use after 11:30 a.m. If you activate your card between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., you will be able to use it after 6:30 p.m.
I forgot my card PIN. How can I request a new PIN?
To receive a new PIN for your debit or credit card, visit the nearest branch or e-branch. You can check your card PIN any time in our mobile app (m-zaba) if you have arranged online banking.
I used my contactless card to make a purchase under HRK 250 and PIN entry was requested. Why was I requested to enter my PIN?
PIN-less card use is limited to five consecutive transactions. For additional safety purposes, PIN entry is requested when the sixth transaction is made, regardless of the amount. The maximum amount for transactions without a PIN can vary in different countries and it also depends on the set limits on foreign markets.
On the occasion of the same payment, I have leaned the contactless card against the payment terminal a number of times. Will the transaction be carried out multiple times?
No. In the procedure of payment by means of contactless cards, such cases have been envisioned and you should not be charged multiple times in case that during one payment you have leaned the card multiple times against the terminal in a short period of time.
As soon as you notice that your card has disappeared, report this immediately to the Bank so that all the necessary measures for preventing misuse could be undertaken in a timely manner. After reporting the disappearance of the card, you are free from any responsibility and protected from financial loss in case of any misuse.
My card is lost/stolen. What do I have to do?
The card user is obliged to report a lost or stolen card immediately. He can do it 24/7 with the Bank stand-by service via tel. 01 3789 789 and confirm the report in writing in the nearest Bank branch. It is also possible to report a lost/stolen card in the branch.
How can I reduce or avoid the risk of misuse of my card?
Please adhere to the following pieces of advice:
Remember the PIN and never write it down on the card or other documents
Sign the card immediately upon receipt
Destroy the old card (it will suffice to cut it through the magnetic stripe) after the expiration date
Do not communicate the PIN or card data EVER to ANYONE
Do not leave the card in visible places (in the car, in a cloakroom, in a hotel room, restaurant, etc.)
Make sure to check the transaction amount prior to payment
After the payment, verify that the card returned to you is really yours
Keep our address and telephone number handy to be able to quickly report a lost or stolen card.
May a contactless card be located if stolen?
No. The range of the antenna in the card is 0 – 4 cm at the most.
Are my personal data protected with the contactless card?
All personal data protection rules are implemented in the same manner like with the cards for contact utilisation.
