Deloitte and banka.hr have organised the CFO Conference 2016: Finance, Business, Innovations that ended with declaring Mr Marko Čižmek, a member of the Management Board of Valamar Riviera, the financial director of the year. The main topics of the conference were business innovations and talent search and management.
"In attracting the best talents for financial institutions, including Zagrebačka banka, the key is to gain the reputation of an organisation that provides the best path to the future", said Mr Lorenzo Ramajola, a member of Management Board of Zagrebačka banka for Finance, taking part in the panel on the talent search.
"The organisation needs to be simplified, and the distance between the managerial level, other employees and clients needs to be reduced," noted Mr Ramajola, adding that Zagrebačka banka seeks to introduce changes through a different way of doing business. Some of the examples are working according to the Agile method, in which employees from different sectors work on a joint project, and the Branch Ambassadors project, within which managers from different business areas visit branches and receive information about the experiences of bankers and specific needs of clients, which are some of the ways in which the Bank is trying to remove the barriers between different levels of employees.
"This different way of working implies that we are less 'structured', less bureaucratic, and more agile," explained Mr Ramajola.
"Good talent management implies letting employees express themselves even in a strict environment such as banking, and the key is to encourage a good communication in all directions," said Mr Ramajola.
"There is no secret formula for encouraging innovations and attracting talents. It is crucial, however, that the leadership is certain it can recognize talents in its own organisation, and when it does recognize them, it needs to have transparent procedures to measure their performance and the way to reward them," concluded Mr Ramajola.
