You have come across a promise of easy money in exchange for a few clicks? Oftentimes, this is a financial scam
Offers that promise high earnings for simple tasks, such as viewing advertisements, require extra caution and verification. 
While ads making false promises of making money by watching videos or ads or playing games may at first appear as a simple opportunity to earn additional income, they often conceal attempted fraud designed to steal your personal data or money.
Making money by watching videos, playing games or performing easy tasks on your mobile phone? Sounds like an easy way to earn some extra money with very little effort. This idea is often the basis for online scams masked by ads for “work-from-home jobs” and promises of quick and easy profits.
Such ads do not necessarily appear suspicious at first glance. Users are offered an opportunity to make money by watching content or playing video games on their mobile devices or computers – the whole process is presented as a simple way of earning some extra income. However, an appealing offer may be just a disguise for an attempt to obtain your personal data or may later involve a request for you to make a payment.
From promises of earnings to requests for payment
After the user expresses their interest in such an ad, they may be asked to enter their card data, allegedly for the purpose of their “verification”, or to install a specific app. To make the whole story more plausible, scammers will sometimes actually send a small amount of money to gain the user’s trust.
Such initial payment can create an impression that this actually is a legitimate opportunity to earn money. Once the user becomes confident, they often receive requests for additional payments, and what started as a promise of easy money soon becomes fraud.
A big promise is the first red flag
A disproportion between the simplicity of a job and promised earnings is one of the most important warning signs. No legitimate company will offer to pay a substantial amount of money just for watching ads, which is why promises of high income with minimal effort always need to be doublechecked.
Requests to enter sensitive information or make a prepayment, as well as any unknown website, should also be a reason for suspicion. Before entering your card data or any other personal information, check who is asking you to provide them and the website you are visiting and never send any sensitive information to anyone you don’t know.
You should also be extra careful if you are asked to install an app. If the app requires extensive access to your files, messages or any other content in your device, delete it immediately and report the ad that led you to it.

An opportunity to make extra money from your own home may be appealing, especially if it seems to require little time or effort. This is why it is important to refrain from reacting impulsively to major (and unrealistic) promises.
