Giro account in EUR

A giro account in EUR is intended for income from self-employment, which has to be recorded through a giro account in accordance with current legal regulations of the Republic of Croatia.

Sources of income paid to the giro account may be the following: freelancing and creative activities, leasing or renting real estate and movable property, part-time or supplementary work, temporary service contract work or income from property and property rights.

With a giro account, you will receive a debit card which you can use to simply and safely dispose of your funds.

Granting a power of attorney in a branch:
A power of attorney for a transaction account can be arranged in any branch which does business with individuals.
When giving a power of attorney for an account in a branch, both the account holder and the proxy need to be present in order to be identified and sign the power of attorney form.
Special powers of attorney:
Special powers of attorney are certified by a competent body (notary public), foreign competent body, or an authorised person from a diplomatic or consular mission. They can be issued for any purpose, or for performing any action in relation to transaction accounts which must be specified, i.e. listed in the special power of attorney.

Current account in euro and giro account in euro are debited in euro for all card transactions, regardless of the currency of payment or cash withdrawal.
If the foreign currency of a payment you make with your debit card of current account in euro and giro account in euro is listed in the exchange rate list for card transactions, the conversion is carried out by Zagrebačka banka by applying the exchange rate list for card transactions. Only one conversion is made (from a foreign currency into euro).
If the currency is not listed in the Bank's exchange rate list for card transactions, the conversion will be carried out by applying the currency conversion rules and the exchange rate list used by credit card companies.

Security

Using the card is safer than carrying cash. When using the card for payments or cash withdrawal, you will need to enter a PIN (in certain countries, you may be required to sign the sales receipt). PIN is a secret identification number known only to the card holder. Therefore, it should be kept secret and it should not be written down on a paper near your card.

If you forget your card PIN, and you use online banking, you can check your card PIN any time in our mobile app (m-zaba).

The user is obliged to report a lost or stolen card immediately to the bank’s Contact Centre (24/7) via tel. 01 3789 789 and confirm the report in writing in nearest branch of the bank.

It is also possible to report a lost/stolen card in the nearest bank branch.

Please adhere to the following pieces of advice:

  • Remember the PIN and never write it down on the card or other documents
  • Destroy the old card (it will suffice to cut it through the magnetic stripe) after the expiration date
  • Do not communicate the PIN or card data EVER to ANYONE
  • Do not leave the card in visible places (in the car, in a cloakroom, in a hotel room, restaurant, etc.)
  • Make sure to check the transaction amount prior to payment
  • After the payment, verify that the card returned to you is really yours
  • Keep our address and telephone number handy to be able to quickly report a lost or stolen card.
