Package for the Youth

A Package for the Youth can be arranged by any adult full-time or part-time student (resident or non-resident) up to 29 years of age. Additional benefits are given to students who have the Package for the Youth upon presentation of the student transcript book “indeks” with a certified semester or a certificate from any Croatian university, polytechnic or college, or a certificate from postgraduate study. The student X-card “X-ica” cannot be used for this purpose.

All resident students (full-time and part-time students - who are residents of the Republic of Croatia and are enrolled into studies at Croatian universities, polytechnics, colleges or postgraduate studies with an ID or student transcript book “indeks” or certificate of student status) can apply for a Mastercard Student card.
You can submit the request for issuing the card, i.e. the application form at any branch, but the card is approved by the parent branch (parent branch for clients who have a Student Lepeza Package or Package for the youth is the branch where they arranged the Lepeza Package/Package for the youth, and parent branch for users who do not have them is the branch where they opened their current account in EUR).

The prerequisite is opening of a current account in EUR in Zaba. 

A non-activated card is delivered to your address and can be used after its activation, as described in the accompanying letter.
The activation differs depending on the card type and the reason for issuing the new card. Therefore, it can be activated in different ways:

• online banking (e-zaba and m-zaba)
• by using the automated answering service
• in a branch of Zagrebačka banka.

If you activate your card before 11 a.m., it will be ready for use after 11:30 a.m. If you activate your card between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m., you will be able to use it after 6:30 p.m.

IMPORTANT: To activate the contactless function, first you have to make at least one conventional transaction by inserting the card into an ATM (it is sufficient to check the account balance) or in a POS device at a point of sale.

The Mastercard Student card is valid in Croatia and worldwide, in millions of stores, restaurants, hotels and hostels, bookstores and airports.  You can use your card for online payments, and within your spending limit and with a fee you can withdraw cash on millions of ATMs and payment locations in Croatia and abroad. 
Furthermore, you can use your Mastercard Student card for instalment payments, without any interests or fees at thousands of points of sale in Croatia.

A student has an spending limit of EUR 250 per card.

Debit cards of current account in euro and giro account in euro included in Start, Smart and Superior service packages, Lepeza Package or the Package for the Youth, enable cash withdrawal abroad without fees at ATMs of banks that are members of the Unicredit Group.

The network of UniCredit Bank consists of almost 13,000 ATMs in 12 European countries: Austria - Bank Austria; Bosnia and Herzegovina - UniCredit Bank; Bulgaria - UniCredit Bulbank; Czech Republic - UniCredit Bank; Italia - UniCredit Banca, UniCredit Banca di Roma, UniCredit Banco di Sicilia; Hungary - UniCredit Bank; Germany - HVB (HypoVereins Bank); Romania - UniCredit Tiriac Bank; Serbia - UniCredit Bank Srbija; Slovakia - UniCredit Slovakia; Slovenia - UniCredit Banka Slovenija and Croatia.

At other ATMs fees will be charged.

When using your debit card abroad check additional messages on the ATM because foreign banks may charge additional fees, such as an ATM access fee, or they can offer you a DCC service: you will have an option to convert the amount in euro with additional transaction fee and mark-up for the currency conversion. Overall, it may be more expansive to pay in EUR than in the foreign currency.

For your security, for purchases in online stores displaying a Mastercard Identity Check mark you require a password, which you will obtain via a token. At points of sale not supporting a security standard, you purchase without a token. Arranging a token is free of charge.

A legal representative/guardian can dispose of funds in the account of a minor pursuant to provisions of the Family Act and other applicable regulations.

The user is obliged to report a lost or stolen card immediately to the bank’s Contact Centre (24/7) via tel. 01 3789 789 and confirm the report in writing in nearest branch of the bank.

It is also possible to report a lost/stolen card in the nearest bank branch.

Please adhere to the following pieces of advice:

• Remember the PIN and never write it down on the card or other documents
• Sign the card immediately upon receipt
• Destroy the old card (it will suffice to cut it through the magnetic stripe) after the expiration date
• Do not communicate the PIN or card data EVER to ANYONE
• Do not leave the card in visible places (in the car, in a cloakroom, in a hotel room, restaurant, etc.)
• Make sure to check the transaction amount prior to payment
• After the payment, verify that the card returned to you is really yours
• Keep our address and telephone number handy to be able to quickly report a lost or stolen card.
